The Iraq war has taken 100,000 lives with even more injured. Bush started the invasion, and despite losses Obama is not changing US politics
A large number of people have been killed by a suicide bomber in Iraq, and dozens have been injured, is news that unfortunately does not surprise anyone anymore. Every day the number of dead rises, and despite American troops pulling out of the country, the war is obviously not over. During this war, which started with an invasion in 2003, between 91,400 and 99,700 people have been killed. These figures include soldiers, civilians and children. We have to mention that these are conservative estimates, and that the death toll is probably much higher. According to some reports, more than 500,000 people have been injured.
Amongst them is seven year old Omar, who has had operations on his head a number of times, and goes to psychological therapy every day which is organized by the French organization Medicins Sans Frontieres. Through group therapy and games, the children try to forget the horrors that they have experienced.
BushÂ’s scare tactics and lies led soldiers to Iraq
Remember, it all started on September 11, 2001 when the WTC towers were destroyed. The American president then started with his scare tactics and the fight against terror. He accused the Iraqi president at the time, Saddam Hussein, of cooperating with Al-Queda without having any evidence.
He also said in his speeches that Iraq has weapons of mass destruction. Later it was determined that the claims were not true.
However, Bush gained public support, which was due to fear of new terrorist attacks, and he was supported by European allies. Besides a large number of deceased, enormous amounts of money was spent. With time, Bush has become more and more hated, but even protesters in the USA did not prompt him to pull soldiers out of Iraq. His reputation was additionally harmed by the economic crisis, which his administration caused.
Obama is threatening Korea, Somali pirates and Afghan rebels
Everyone was pointing the finger at Bush, which suited Barack ObamaÂ’s campaign. Obama won in the presidential elections and in January 2009 he entered office. Obama announced the withdrawal of troops from Iraq, and sending extra troops to Afghanistan. Recently during a NATO summit, he asked European leaders to help with their armies, but with money as well.
Besides that, he announced a war against pirates in Somalia, and despite their threats to kill innocent sailors, he did not give up on his plan of standing up to them. US politics has obviously changed very little. Barack Obama has continued with the scare tactics. Al-Qaeda is a greater threat to Europe than the USA, said Obama to the Europeans, whilst he constantly reminds Americans that North Korea could launch a deadly long range missile onto American soil.
The American administration supported Israel during their genocide in Gaza, and they participated in the conflict in Georgia. Anyhow, America has been leading wars in other countries for years, civilians die, the administration changes, but the situation remains the same.
