Nikkei fluctuates on US losses, China rate cut

Tokyo (dpa) – Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average rebounded  Wednesday morning from earlier losses following an overnight decline on Wall Street and an additional rate cut in China.

As of 10:26 am (0126 GMT), the Nikkei gained 94.79 points, or 0.53 per cent, to stand at 17,901.49 after falling 0.5 per cent earlier in the morning.

The Nikkei index lost nearly 4 per cent Tuesday.

As of 10:02 am, the dollar traded at 118.96-119.00 yen, down from Tuesday’s 5 pm quote of 119.72-75 yen.

The euro was quoted at 137.18-24 yen, up from 138.04-08 yen late Tuesday.
